Coggeshall Memorial Stars

For the past four years, four large stars have been placed on each side of the top of the tower of St. Peter’s Church in Coggeshall. These are lit for a certain period of time in memory of loved ones who have passed away. This year, the stars will be lit between 29 November and 6 January – the festive season is often when we remember and think of our friends or family who are no longer with us, and the stars are a lovely way to honour their memory.

Each star can be ‘bought’ on each day of this period, meaning four stars can be ‘bought’ each day – the dates are pulled as a lucky dip once people have purchased a day. The cost of the star is £5 each and all of the money from the stars go to a local charity. This year, the chosen charity is the Big Park Project.

The organisers behind this project will be selling the remaining star lots on Sunday 11 October at the Co-op on East Street from 10am. This is always so popular and they have already sold quite a few so be sure to get there early if you don’t want to miss out!
